Abbots Thorn Access Statement
We have 3 bedrooms at Abbots Thorn all on the first floor.
The only access to Abbots Thorn is by road, there is no bus service to the village.
The nearest rail station is Northallerton 20 miles away where you can find taxis but you really do need your own transport to get out and about in the area.
Our brochure and breakfast menu are available in large print if required.

You can contact us by phone and email using the details in the Contact Information below, there is no mobile coverage at the house but it can be found a couple of hundred yards up the village.
Arrival and Car Parking
Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time so we may ensure we are here to welcome you.
Your room/s will be available from 4pm, you may leave your luggage if you arrive earlier (by arrangement please.)
Car parking is opposite the house on the greensward (two wheels off/two wheels on the road please.)
John should be here to help with your luggage.
There is one 6 inch step up from the kerb and two 8 inch steps before the front door.
Guest Accommodation – Public Areas
The down stairs is level apart from a small step into the Dining room.
Most rooms have lower than usual headroom, please mind your head.
There are 4 stairs then a landing, 3 stairs then a landing, 4 stairs and a landing to the first floor; the stairs have hand rails on either side. There is one step to the Lilac room. One step takes you along the hall to Honeysuckle and Jasmine. There is one stair down to the bathroom. All stairs are carpeted.
Lounge and Dining Room
The whole house is covered by free WiFi internet access.
Guests may use the lounge at any time.
There is a 3 seater settee, a 2 seater settee and one armchair in the lounge.
The lounge is carpeted.
There is a selection of maps, books, games, jigsaws and cards in the lounge.
Breakfast is served in the dining room.
The dining room is carpeted.
We do not have a drinks licence but you may bring your own and we will do the necessary.
All bedrooms are on the first floor and are carpeted throughout except the en-suites and have Freeview televisions.
There are en-suite facilities in Lilac and Honeysuckle consisting of toilet, washbasin and shower, please only put toilet paper down them, wet wipes, etc should be put in the bin provided.
Jasmine has a sink in the room and has sole use of the house bathroom (robes are supplied.)
The beds have synthetic pillows, please advise us if you would prefer blankets or duvets.
Access to all beds is available from both sides.
There is a wardrobe, Welsh dresser, dressing table and bedside cabinet in Lilac, wardrobe and bedside cabinets in Honeysuckle and wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside cabinet in Jasmine.
Each room contains an information folder about the house and also details of doctors, hospitals, vets, banks, local markets, etc and things to do in the surrounding area.
Guests may use the front garden, a table and chairs are there for your convenience.
In the event of fire the smoke dectectors will sound. All bedrooms and hallways have smoke detectors which 'speak' to each other so if smoke is detected all alarms will ring. There are fire extinguishers at the bottom of the stairs and on the upstairs landing. Please advise us if you have hearing difficulties so that we may arrange al alternative way to inform you in the event of a fire.
The building may be evacuated by the front door, the door through the kitchen or through the windows on the first floor, all are tilt and turn and open inwards.
Smoking is not permitted in the house or in the garden if other guests are also there.
Please advise us of any special dietary requirements you may have prior to your arrival.
