Thank you for visiting the Abbots Thorn website. Abbots Thorn was built between 1750 and 1850, is a traditional, stone-built, Dales house that reputedly has the only round chimneystacks in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Carlton is Coverdale's principal village and has stunning views south towards West Scrafton. In the heart of 'Herriot' country, the village situated on the road between Middleham and Kettlewell consists of only 99 houses, a pub and a chapel. Abbots Thorn is an ideal base for walking, hiking, fishing, bird watching or touring in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
As a bed and breakfast, Abbots Thorn has been awarded the VisitBritian 4 Star, Silver award so you can be sure of a comfortable, warm and friendly stay with us. We are centrally located to many places of interest including Leyburn, Middleham, Aysgarth Falls, Wensley, Reeth, Askrigg and Hawes to name but a few.
